Signs and symptoms of Occupational Asthma |
| Prolonged exposure to dusts, fumes or gases may result in difficulty in
breathing, coughing, wheezing and chest tightness. For some people this may include a release of
histamine into the airways, this causes swelling and constriction of the muscles in the airways thus
narrowing the air passages. |
 |
| The second category of occupational asthma is often associated with exposure
to high concentrations of irritants. and developes without a period of latency. The symptoms may
be somewhat different from that of asthma that follows a latent period. This is often referred
to as Reactive Airways Dysfunction Syndrome (RADS). |
 |
| If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may have a claim. |
